At the 1980 Moscow Summer Olympics, Comăneci won two more gold medals and scored two more 10 perfect points. During his career, Comăneci won 9 Olympic medals and 4 medals at the gymnastics world championship. Comăneci is one of the most famous gymnastics athletes in the world and is recognized as a popular player in sports globally. In 2000, she was named one of the athletes of the 20th century by the Laureus World Sports Academy. She has lived in the United States since 1989, when she fled communist-era Romania before the December revolution of that year.
